Since 1992
There are stories born in silence, among mountains, cold dawns and hands that work the land with devotion. The story of Café Dams begins like this: as a family legacy that has been honoring Honduran coffee and the people who grow it for more than 40 years.
The beginnings
A family, a dream and a small town in Olancho
In the 80s, Mr. José A. Andino, started a business and in 1992 together with his wife Dania M. Suazo, decided to embark on a path that would mark his family forever. They founded Empresa Andino Suazo S. de R.L., a company that in its early years was dedicated to buying basic products such as rice, corn and beans. However, over time, one product stood out above all: coffee.
From their base in Campamento, Olancho, a small town surrounded by mountains and coffee-growing tradition, the Andino Suazo family began to build relationships with hundreds of local producers. Every season, from October to April, farmers from all corners came down from the mountains to deliver their harvest: some on donkey or horse, others on bicycle, in pick-up trucks, small trucks or large trucks. All with the same purpose: to bring the fruit of their effort to a trusted middleman.
The story of Café Dams begins in 1992, when the family gave shape to Empresa Andino Suazo S. de R.L., a company linked to coffee and the people who produce it.
Since then, the family has built relationships of trust with hundreds of producers across generations, including coffee-growing families from Olancho and other departments in Honduras.
The story of Café Dams doesn't start with a bag of coffee.
It starts much earlier
and in a way of understanding coffee as something that connects people.

The origin
From Olancho to the world.
Café Dams is born in Honduras and maintains a direct relationship with the origin of the coffee. Our family history has been linked to this work for more than 40 years.
- Olancho, Honduras

- Coffee grown in high altitude zones
- Knowledge accumulated over decades
Origin and Destination
The bridge between the producer and the world
Empresa Andino Suazo became that bridge. Its warehouse filled with coffee sacks that represented months of work, care and dedication. When the storage was complete, trucks and trailers departed for exporters, who sent Honduran coffee to different countries around the world.
This is how logistics worked for decades: a silent but vital chain that allowed Olancho's coffee to reach the hands of international consumers.
But not all coffee was exported. A part always stayed at home, reserved for local consumption. And it was precisely in that space where something new was born.
People and Craft
Many hands, one story.
Behind every coffee there are many people.
Producers who know the land, families who have dedicated generations to cultivation, people who work each stage of the process and a family that has built lasting relationships around coffee.
Café Dams is born from that connection.
We don't want to just tell the story of a brand. We want to tell the story of the people who make each cup possible.

Family
A company built as a family.
The origin of Café Dams: an idea that waited for its moment
For years, one of the 7 children of the family —passionate about coffee and recently graduated in Industrial Engineering— insisted that they should create their own brand. She wanted to apply what she had learned, she wanted to innovate, she wanted her family's coffee to have its own name.
But life, sometimes, has other timings.
The family went through difficult moments: the loss of a son, and the long illness of Mr. José A. Andino, who lived 14 years with health complications after a heart attack. In 2015, his departure left an immense void. A loving husband, an exemplary father, a cherished grandfather and a man who had built a legacy with effort and nobility was gone.
His absence hurt, but it also lit a flame: the need for his story not to remain in silence.
Empresa Andino Suazo S. de R.L. was founded by the family in 1992. Since then, coffee has been a meeting point between generations, producers and a shared way of working.
Today, Café Dams continues to carry that story towards new generations and new markets, keeping close the place, the people and the values with which it began.
Family Identity
The meaning of our logo.
A logo with integrated composition: the lettering and the grandfather's figure form a single visual signature.
A name that holds a legacy
CAFÉ DAMS
With the desire to honor his memory and continue what he started, the family finally decided to create the brand. Thus was born CAFÉ DAMS, a name formed by the initials of the family members. Curiously, “dams” in English means structures that hold water… and water is life. Water is essential for coffee, from its cultivation to the final cup. The coincidence did not go unnoticed: it was a perfect symbol.
Café Dams is not just a brand. It is a tribute. It is the continuation of a story that started in 1992 and continues to grow, now from Honduras to the world.
The Grandfather
The isotype represents the family's grandfather: a farmer from Olancho, an elderly man of the field, with a serene expression and firm character. It is not simply 'a man with a hat': it is the visual representation of the family origin of Café Dams and its link with Olancho, Honduras.
The hat, glasses and mustache
Elements of the Olancho country man that transmit experience, work and tradition. The grandfather → the land → the farmer → the tradition → the coffee.

The cup
Inside our A, the cup represents coffee as an experience: the moment of sharing, talking and enjoying. It is the human part of Café Dams.
The bean
Also inside the A, the bean represents the origin: the seed, the Honduran land, the producers and all the work that exists before the coffee reaches the cup.
The steam
The steam rising from the cup represents the aroma and that moment when freshly prepared coffee comes to life. It symbolizes the connection between origin and destination: from Honduran coffee to the world.

Faith and Family
A spiritual pillar on the path
We also want to honor someone who, from the first moment, supported this project with faith and strength: the maternal grandfather Don Ismael. When he first heard the idea of creating our own brand, he embraced it with devotion. He prayed for it, asked God to bless it and accompanied his daughter on every trip, in every procedure, in every step that required courage.
In the years when the absence of her husband weighed most, he became a firm pillar: a man with a mustache and hat, a typical living image of the hard-working Olanchano farmer and rancher. His presence, his support and his spirituality are also part of the soul of Café Dams. Therefore, his essence was immortalized in the logo: a silent tribute to his figure and to everything he represented for our family.
Present and Future
A legacy that continues.
More than three decades after that 1992, the story continues.
Today, Café Dams represents tradition, family, quality and origin. Each bean tells a story: that of the producers who climb and descend mountains, that of a family that has dedicated its life to coffee, and that of a father whose legacy lives on in every cup.
This project not only honors the past: it also builds the future. A future where Honduran coffee is recognized for its flavor, its origin and the human story that sustains it.
Faith and Gratitude
Gratitude to God
We thank God, who has been our guide in every step of this path. His provision, His strength and His grace have sustained our family in the most difficult moments and have opened doors where before there was only uncertainty. This project is also the fruit of His faithfulness, and to Him we dedicate every achievement, every advance and every new harvest.

From our family to your cup.
Each cup of Café Dams carries with it an origin, a story and many hands.
Thank you for being part of it.
